Each student is encouraged to
participate in at least on internship during her time at Agnes Scott. An internship is an educational
experience in which a student learns to relate her academic knowledge in an applied setting.
Agnes Scott maintains a robust variety of internship relationships. Internships may be engaged in for credit or not for credit. Internships provide a valuable adjunct to classroom learning and serve as a vehicle for professional exploration.
Internships are real world applications of both a student’s major discipline as well as the broader liberal arts experience. An internship allows a student to extend and expand her area of study from the classroom to the outside world. Internships also provide professional insight into a student’s career interests. Often the student’s internship experience assists her in more clearly defining the specific professional area she wants to pursue. Sometimes, the experience reveals to the student that she needs to reassess her career direction or graduate study plans.

Career Observation Days
The Career Observation Days program provides students with an opportunity to try out a career before committing to it. Students are matched with a host for a day of on-site shadowing and observation. A student can then determine if it is a career to think about or, just as important, if it not what she wants to pursue. Career Observation Days are scheduled each year during the week prior to the start of spring semester. Please watch the news and events section for applications, deadlines and Career Observation Day sponsors.
