International Student Welcome
"I think the most helpful part of the Orientation was people were so willing and eager to help in every way"
Samikshya Siwakoti '17 from Nepal
Welcome International Students to Agnes Scott College!
We are so glad that you have chosen to become a Scottie! Whether you are joining us from Pakistan or China, Poland or Turkey, we are thrilled you have chosen to become a Scottie! The transition to college for international students poses some unique challenges as in addition to starting college, you are also coming to a new country with different customs, food and (possibly) language. We are excited to learn about your culture and customs, share ours, and explore our diversity and commonalities.
To provide time for international students to get to know each other, learn about culture and customs and become familiar with the campus and the Decatur/Atlanta area the Office of International Education hosts a week long orientation program specifically for international students prior to the arrival of your U.S classmates. International Students arrive on Monday, August 17th and should connect with the Office of International Orientation regarding arrival times. International Student Orientation begins Tuesday, August 18th. Most of that first week will be spent with staff from the Office of International Education, but you will meet Orientation Council members (student leaders) at several events and will join your class for the general new student orientation program when the rest of your class arrives on Friday, August 21st.
Your Orientation Council is here to work with you on an individual basis. Whether it is helping you manage your time, setting you up with a mentor, sharing information about the free resources available at Agnes Scott, or helping you get connected to campus, we want to come alongside you to help your year be a great one. We look forward to meeting you!
