Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Meyer-Lee previously served as the Director of the Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership (CWIL) at Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, and helped build the nascent project into a thriving and renowned academic center. CWIL’s mission is to empower women to realize their call to leadership and to develop intercultural knowledge and competence, promoting human transformation and systemic change by providing challenging, justice-based educational opportunities. She has taught courses in Global Studies concentrating on International Higher Education Administration, Analysis of Study Abroad Learning for returnees, and an Introduction to Intercultural Studies.

Her experience as a college student studying abroad in both France and Haiti first inspired her interest in cross-cultural learning. Her passion for women’s education and leadership development is rooted in her time spent volunteering as a counselor for battered women. Her graduate education examined issues of both international and domestic intercultural learning through the lens of feminist theory, and she became convinced of the power of education to empower women and combat ethnocentrism of all kinds.
