Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Dr. Riter incorporates an active learning pedagogy called process oriented guided inquiry learning, POGIL, where students work in teams on activities centered on the cognitive learning cycle. These activities guide them in developing conceptual understanding of the learning objectives and in honing process skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. Her recent scholarship has focused on developing POGIL learning materials for the instrumental analytical course and writing supplemental materials for the Agnes Scott College Resource Center for Math and Science.
