Monday, September 30, 2013
Agnes Scott College has received a $3 million bequest from an alumna who wishes to remain anonymous. The gift is the third largest received during Agnes Scott’s The Greatness Before Us Campaign, which entered its public phase in fall 2012. The gift will be used to support scholarships and capital projects on campus.
“We are deeply grateful to these generous benefactors of the college,” said Rob Parker, vice president for college advancement at Agnes Scott. “While Agnes Scott is not entitled to anyone’s support, this college is certainly worthy of significant philanthropic investment because of its life-changing mission to help women find their voices and live lives of purpose.”
With this gift, Agnes Scott has raised more than $71 million toward its $100 million campaign goal.
Agnes Scott also recently completed another exceptionally strong year. The college raised a total of $10.7 million in gifts and pledges and enjoyed the support of 44 percent of its alumnae, which is one of the highest giving participation rates among national liberal arts colleges. In addition, the Fund for Agnes Scott, the college’s annual fund, raised $2.8 million in cash contributions, the most in the college’s history.
