Decatur, GA, September 27, 2017 – Agnes Scott College has announced plans to offer degrees and graduate certificate programs beginning in fall 2018.

The college will launch master’s and graduate certificate programs in writing and digital communication, evaluation and assessment methods, applied technology, data visualization, social innovation and global leadership over the next three years. The first programs to launch in fall 2018, pending SACS-COC approval, will be a master’s degree and graduate certificate in writing and digital communication and a graduate certificate in evaluation and assessment methods.

Each program of study will include interdisciplinary classroom instruction and flexible class schedules. The programs will be available to individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree and will be co-educational. Students pursuing graduate certificates will be able to apply their earned credits toward requirements of a master’s degree, giving them flexibility as they work toward their goals.

“When designing these programs, we asked: what expertise is needed for the future of Atlanta? How can we best prepare people for unknown economic and social demands through graduate instruction? From these questions, we crafted a portfolio of programs that give graduates the knowledge and agility they need to thrive,” said Kelly Ball, assistant dean of graduate and extended programs at Agnes Scott. “We designed our graduate programs for curious and ambitious minds who are ready to tackle enduring challenges as leaders in their fields.”

“This is an ideal time for Agnes Scott to expand our educational offerings,” said President Elizabeth Kiss. “Our signature program for undergraduates, SUMMIT, which was launched in 2015, just earned us recognition as the #2 Most Innovative national liberal arts college in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report. Now we are building on that success by offering a cutting-edge portfolio of graduate programs that leverage our strengths and prepare a new population of adults and working professionals for success in a dynamic economy.”

The growth of new academic programs will also provide Agnes Scott opportunities to build new and strengthen existing relationships with community partners.
