Peeper McDonald '09
Psychology and Religious Studies
Peeper McDonald graduated from Agnes Scott in 2009 with a double major in Psychology and Religious Studies. She is originally from Atlanta and recently moved from Midtown to 10 acres of woods in McDonough, Georgia, to give her dachshund, Murphy, plenty of room to run around. After graduating from Agnes Scott, she enrolled in the Professional Counseling Master's program at Georgia State University and once completed with this degree she moved on to get her EdS in Professional Counseling and her PhD in Counselor Education and Practice. As a student at Agnes, she could be found singing in the Joyful Noise Gospel choir throughout her four years at Agnes. Additionally, as a student, Peeper sought out faculty mentors and loved how committed and supportive they were. She especially appreciated the rigorous coursework and research opportunities, which prepared her beyond measure for graduate school. Peeper truly believes she would not be where she is today without the mentorship and guidance from Drs. Jenny Hughes and Tina Pippin. She remembers always feeling supported and challenged by them and with this support, she gained a wealth of knowledge about research and how to turn her passions into helping others. Additionally, the opportunities she had to present at SpARC have been invaluable to her and have sent her on a trajectory that included helping others through research. Now, Peeper is an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Mercer University and gets to train, teach, and supervise future counselors, forever working towards giving the kind of mentorship that she richly received at Agnes. Her picture was taken in midtown Atlanta.
