How To Propose a Theme House

To propose a theme house, take the following steps:

  1. Partner with six to ten students who share your learning goals. Ideally, residents should be drawn from a variety of departments, majors and classes.
  2. Select an adviser. Each house must have an adviser who is either a faculty member or an approved college official, and who is committed to playing a key role in helping students reflect on what they are learning
  3. Submit your application by 4:00pm March 3, 2017 for the 2017-2018 academic year. The completed application and supplemental materials must be submitted by hard copy to the Office of Residence Life as well as electronic form.

Please refer to the Application Packet for details and requirements for living in a Theme House.

The Office of Residence Life will also be hosting Theme House interest meetings Wednesday, February 15th and Thursday, February 16th at 6:30pm in Lower Winship.

How does the selection process work?

A selection committee will review and score applications. Additionally, each group will have an opportunity to interview the week of March 20th with a panel of campus representatives. Theme House decisions will be announced to all applicants Friday, March 24th via email.

Please refer to the Faculty/Staff Advisor Information for both expectations and interest form.
