Agnes Scott College is committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and using alternate transportation can help us do just that. Discounts and benefits are offered through several programs to allow our students, faculty, and staff to take full advantage of the great transportation options in the area.
Through its Climate Resilience Plan, Agnes Scott will continue to analyze and address sustainable commuting options for its employees.
With the following options available, consider leaving your car at home!
Georgia Commute Options
Agnes Scott facilitates the use of carpooling through the Georgia Commute Options organization. Georgia Commute Options has created several programs for carpooling, public transit and biking or walking of which Agnes Scott employees can take advantage.
Employees who use sustainable commuting practices to Agnes Scott are eligible for a reduced parking pass fee. For a reduced pass employees must apply through the Office of People & Culture. Once approved, the parking pass rate is half off the normal rate. (Carpool/Vanpool rate is $50/year compared to the regular pass which is $100/year). See the guidelines below.
You must use an alternative form of transportation at least:
- THREE days a week if you work a five-day on-campus work week, OR
- TWO days a week if you work a four-day on-campus work week.
- Alternative transportation means: biking, walking, MARTA or other public transit and carpooling.
In addition, Georgia Commute Options hosts tables at staff and faculty events at the beginning of each academic year to inform new and existing employees of carpool and alternative transportation options.
MARTA UPASS
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) offers a monthly pass (the U-Pass) for students, faculty/staff of local colleges and universities at a reduced rate.
The UPass is good for unlimited trips on MARTA trains and buses all day and every day of the week for the calendar month (first day of the month to the last day of the month). Student UPasses cost $68.50 and faculty/staff U-Pass cost $83.80.
