Community Engagement Honor Roll
The President's Community Engagement Honor Roll recognizes outstanding students who give back to the community through volunteering, community-based research, and public service internships.
Many Agnes Scott students participate in service beyond the opportunities offered by the Center for Leadership, Engagement, and Service. To recognize these efforts, Georgina Espinoza ’17 proposed a dean’s list for those who actively engage their communities. From that idea, the President's Community Engagement Honor Roll emerged.
Service hours can include:
- Group service projects
- Individual volunteer work
- A course that requires service
- An internship with a nonprofit or government agency
- A research project that works with a nonprofit or government agency to address a community need
Each semester, students who complete at least 10 hours of community engagement will be added to the President’s Community Engagement Honor Roll. Students who accumulate 150 hours of service during their time at Agnes Scott will be eligible to receive the President’s Community Engagement Award. Students can also receive a graduation cord for community engagement.
To be recognized, students should submit service hours on Scotties Serve. The deadline to submit hours for each semester is the last day of classes. You may log into Scotties Serve with your Agnes Scott username and password.
Students should email Blayne McDonald, Assistant Director for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement, to inquire about service hour requirements for the President’s Community Engagement Award, graduation cord and honor roll.
